Michael A. Snyder – MD, FACS, PC, the DENVER CENTER for BARIATRICS SURGERY and Daniel Siegel of Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology are happy to announce that they are one of 16 centers in the US that are enrolling patients in an FDA trial to seek approval for a new weight loss device called the BIB. BIB stands for the BioEnteric Intragastric Balloon.  The BIB is a balloon that is endoscopically placed inside the stomach and can be left in place for up to 6 months to give hunger control and assist with weight loss.  The BIB has been available in Europe for greater than 10 years and there have been greater than 93,000 BIBs placed internationally.

The present study, sponsored by Allergan the makers of the BIB, is a randomized trial comparing a group of patients with a BIB, and a comprehensive weight loss program with a group of patients who are given the comprehensive weight loss program alone.  All components of the study including the BIB, Dietitian visits, office visits and the Doctor visits are free to the patients.  Patients also receive paid compensation for some of the study visits.  To improve compliance with the study visits participants must live within a 5 mile radius of Rose Medical Center or be employed by Rose Medical Center or Founders.  We are only allowed to enroll 26 patients.  Our expectation is that these slots will be filled quickly.  To sign up for the BIB seminar please take and paste the link below into the browser window of your computer:
