Exercise Program
Exercise and activity is a cornerstone for the Bariatric patient to continue weight loss and improve health, yet what is the right type and intensity of activity? The Denver Center for Health and Sports Science (DCHSS) www.DenverCHSS.com provides that service for Denver Bariatrics’ patients in providing assessment, exercise and referral points to aid the patient in achieving further success that is for a lifetime!
After surgery, what should you weigh?
The DCHSS aids Denver Bariatrics’ patients with this quest by using a sophisticated body composition scan to measure body composition, actual muscular mass per segment and even resting metabolic rate. This scan occurs 4-6 weeks after surgery and provides a basis for recommendation of an overall exercise plan by determining the optimal amount of resistance versus energy system activity. Additionally, this session will also include a profile of the type of exercise environment and support that will give you the best opportunity at success.
If you choose to exercise away from the Rose campus, we offer a network of personal trainers grouped by geography here in the Denver Metro area who have undergone additional education and training with DCHSS to help them further understand your needs as a Bariatrics’ patient. The education sessions for these trainers are geared towards a better understanding of such areas as common prescription medications and their effect on exercise results, foot/gait issues, increasing strength for the bariatric patient, energy system training and its’ effect on metabolism, injury avoidance and other issues.
For those patients who want to exercise in a private, medically-supervised facility and program, the DCHSS offers you individual or very small group options. The DCHSS has a unique facility in equipment and approach that can make any Bariatric patient more successful. Some of the unique equipment suited to the Bariatric patient includes the Pneubounder, Turning Point core machine, VibePlate, VertiMax and other devices which complement our complete list of exercise offerings not found anywhere else in the region.
