Having seen the success of many other patients, Norman Heinmiller attended a seminar of Dr. Michael Snyder’s to learn more about bariatric surgery. Throughout the seminar, Norman felt confident that he understood the process and would have Dr. Snyder’s support throughout. The attention he received from the very start with the team at Denver Center for Bariatric Surgery encouraged him to undergo bypass surgery at the age of 42. Even now almost three years out, he still gets the same care and attention during every office visit.
“I feel like the worker, husband and father I always thought I was when I didn’t know anything different.”
After losing the weight, Norman shares that he now feels more professional working as a volunteer firefighter. “I feel like the worker, husband and father I always thought I was when I didn’t know anything different.”
While he used to have a problem walking a few miles, Norman now enjoys hiking and playing with his kids for hours. He participates in 5K’s and other events like the Warrior Dash and mud runs. He understands that the surgery is a tool for a healthy life and not a miracle procedure. This concept motivates Norman to exercise and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Norman no longer suffers from high blood pressure, anxiety attacks, edema in the legs, sleep apnea or back pain*. He’s able to tie his shoes more easily and enjoys taking rides on his motorcycle, which he rarely did before surgery. With the support of his family and Dr. Snyder, Norman shares that “the journey to health has been a great one.”
