Michelle officially joined the Denver Center for Weight Loss and Bariatric Surgery team in 2021 after receiving her Family Nurse Practitioner degree from Regis University. However, she has worked closely with the DCBS team and these patients as a Nurse on the hospital side for the last 15 years. She initially became fascinated by the field of bariatrics when she started sending patients home off diabetes and high blood pressure medications immediately following surgery. She soon became a Certified Bariatric Nurse and went on to develop the Bariatric Discharge Program at HCA HealthONE Rose. Her passion for the field of bariatrics motivated her to go back to school so that she could manage bariatric patients at the next level. She has had the unique opportunity to care for patients in many ways through all phases of their journey and she is excited to help them achieve their long-term goals and enjoy a better quality of life.
A midwesterner at heart, she moved to Colorado after graduating from the University of Iowa School of Nursing (go Hawks!) over 20 years ago. Michelle and her husband have two children, Sam (14) and Lucy (12). They are very active in sports and most of their time is spent cheering them on in football, basketball, soccer, and gymnastics. Michelle loves watching them compete and engage in healthy physical and social outlets. Her entire family is obsessed with their two long-haired dachshunds, Ginger and Odie, and their new Golden Retriever, Theo. In her free time, she enjoy trips to the mountains, lake and beach with her family.
